You’re dancing in the moment. All I’m asking for is to be yourself in that moment and let go. There’s nothing more I can possibly ask. And that’s about all that I’ve asked.
So when you say you’re dancing, what does that mean?
You can say anything. But dancing is not what I do; that’s what the dancers do.
How does that make you feel?
Just a little tired. So tired, but I’m not sleepy anymore.
What I’m hearing is that you’re a bit of a “be-all and end-all.”
I never asked to be that way. I just want to be the person in the moment being myself.
There is a line in your music where you talk about, “Everything that happens is for a reason.”
I never said that before, but it’s something you have to start by asking yourself the question, “What is going on here?” And then start to look for answers.
Do you think that’s something you need to do?
I think most people need to start out searching for an answer. And maybe a lot of people just need guidance.
Can you tell me about the most difficult part of coming back from the accident?
It came with a little more time and more time was spent with an injury than with an accident. But the best word for it was a “learning curve.” And I guess it wasn’t much longer than it actually was.
What exactly did you learn about yourself and the music that you’re working on now? Did you start at it or was it gradual?
It wasn’t a long learning curve. And I think that, after this accident — which has happened in such a short span of time — that I feel a lot of humility. I’ve come to an understanding, but there’s still a lot of work to do.
Was that the hardest part of coming back because you realized how long you’ve been away from music or did it just come to you naturally?
I feel like music is forever. It’s like your own thing, your own little world, like your own personality, but it also exists in this very big universe. That’s how far back I think you can go. And that’s how far forward I think I can go from here. So it was very intuitive.
