What’s your ultimate goal?

When you’re ready to ask for feedback.

This is also called the ‘How do I’ phase of the job. The feedback is meant to give you a sense of your skills or your potential to be successful as a coach. It also helps you to determine whether your goals are compatible with the job.

This phase of the job usually lasts about 1-5 months and is a great way of determining whether you’re going to be successful as a coach. It’s time to evaluate how a coach fits into your life and whether you would be able to bring them into your life.

To begin your interview, the coach should:

ask you questions about your life

ask you about any past experiences/problems

and if you’re comfortable with the latter ask:

What are your goals

and what do you feel comfortable working towards in your lifeā€¦

What other people say about you

Your Interview

If you’ve already completed your initial interview, make sure that you are comfortable with it. Try and be flexible. A coach does not say ‘yes’ to everything. He or she will also take time to ask you questions that might be unexpected. This is so that you can get an accurate idea of what you’re getting yourself into.

This will also give your interviewer time to ask for further data about you. The coach is there to find you the skills that you need to succeed. And once you’ve met and worked with the coach, that’s the point you would normally finish your interview on:

“We will see how we do today, but I would like you to let me know what you think.”
