Does anyone care that they’re not just ‘flapper’ any more?
“Some people do but we’re not making any statements on that. We want to keep everyone in the frame from time to time.
“When we did the show Flapper’s World, there was a huge amount of media going on.
“People were like ‘Who is going to wear this hat and who is going to play the drums?'”
It seems that some are a little concerned about what they perceive as an attempt at parody.
“I don’t think anyone has ever said anything like that about Flapper’s World or what we’ll do over the course of this tour,” says Fender.
“We’re only doing that because flappers have made so much money out of them and everyone wants to do something in their name.
“I don’t hate these people but we want to see a show that we don’t have to worry about being accused of being fake and the flapper hats don’t matter.”
It seems that not everyone is in total agreement with these comments.
“They make fun of them, we don’t,” says Fender who would like a better answer from him.
“Flappers are not wearing a hat. We’re dressing in traditional clothes and playing the instruments we want to play and in a way this all fits in with our show and what we do live.”
This week it’s not just about the election, it’s a celebration of the best-known TV series of the 1990s: Buffy The Vampire Slayer. For those unaware of the show or its origins, it’s the very first Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode (or season, if you prefer) and the final episode of the show’s original run. The show was created by Joss Whedon (who would later create Firefly) in 1995. A quick review of its cast reveals that its first season consisted of 8 episodes and a total of 10 story arcs. (Season 2 has not yet been released as a movie.)
So when asked whether or not the episode is a “classic” Buffy, I have to admit, I was intrigued as to the answer. I don’t see any glaring issues, or any obvious shortcomings that might disqualify this episode from being “good”. The thing is, I’ve seen most of the “classic” Buffy episodes of all time.
