If you are like most, you find breakfast less appealing than dinner and snack more. However, it’s important to take advantage of your healthy snack and breakfast options.
How about lunch?
There have been so many studies into the health benefits of eating healthy and avoiding processed and fast food that I felt it could finally be time to put my weight loss to the test by eating lunch.
For me, my preferred lunch has been:
2-3 pieces of fruit
2 ounces of nuts, granola or oats
1/4 oz fat-free milk
5-6 handfuls of nuts
1 can of beans, or 3 tablespoons of oil
2 pieces of fruit
Bag of nuts or seeds
How about dinner?
I tend to eat dinner with friends, family and colleagues (unless I am traveling). Most people in my area are vegetarian and I’ve found that most vegans are fine with having cheese with dessert.
I try to avoid processed foods at dinner and rely on protein, grains, vegetables and healthy oils. Although most people in my area are still familiar with processed food, I find the number of vegans and vegetarians in the restaurant area has increased in the last few years – with more of these folks looking for healthy options. They are more aware of what they are eating, so when they try a piece of meat they will ask if it is cooked – and may find that their meal was better the next day.
My advice to vegans and vegetarians is to focus on the quality of your food and avoid the mass amounts of meat that are prevalent in the food system.
What if you don’t like my diet?
That’s not really the point of this article. There are plenty of excellent reasons to cut out processed foods and other unhealthy things that can make you sick. You may want to try one of my diet plans and if you prefer not to follow the guidelines, there are lots of restaurants that cater to vegetarians and vegans.
