In the past, I have seen the maximum weight loss in a month as approximately 45 lbs. The “maximum weight loss” is a weight loss calculated from both your weight gain and your weight loss. For example, a person who weighs 155 lbs and has gained 7 lbs on average would be considered to have gained 9 .7 lbs of weight in a month. A person who weighs 180 lbs and has lost 12.7 lbs on average would be considered to have lost 10 .2 lbs of weight in a month.
Where to Find Your Actual Weight Lost From Exercise?
When I asked people what the best exercise for weight loss was, there was one question that always popped up. I would like to answer that question now. I have been wondering and have had my doubts for a long time that I could even do the following:
Complete a one day hike in my body weight or less
Complete a half day backpacking trip through my body weight or less
Climb a 5% incline in my body weight
Climb a 5% hill in my body weight
Complete 3 days of yoga
In other words, I could not even attempt a one day hike, a half day trip, and 5% hill in any given month.
I am a big believer that you can increase your body weight and your strength, while simultaneously losing weight, but what kind of exercise you can and cannot do in a given month is more complex and not always easy to determine. So let me try to answer this question.
How long can you perform exercises that increase your body weight while simultaneously losing it?
To answer this one I did a quick study. What I found was quite unexpected. The answer was very easy to discover; no matter how much weight you lose, your body will continue to burn through the calories you used to lose it.
A person who weighs 150 lbs and has gained 7 lbs on average is considered to have lost 70 lbs of body weight in a month of daily exercise. A person who weighs 160 lbs and has lost 9 lbs on average is considered to have lost 72 lbs of body weight in a month of daily exercise. So basically, for every pound of body weight you have lost, you will continue to burn that weight through your exercise sessions or just through your sleep.
