Zoo vet salaries vary widely depending on the length of residency and whether a vet is a primary and/or an adjunct/assistant, according to the Veterinary Information Institute.
Most zookeepers live from $40,000 to $70,000 a year. An associate zookeeper usually receives a supplemental salary of $21,500 based on 10 years service. A full-time associate zookeeper earns as little as $5,000 annually and $18,000 a year.
In the meantime, most zoo members can contribute to their vet’s healthcare and travel as long as the vet agrees with their lifestyle choices.
