Many people feel that exercise gives their two favorite dogs even more energy to engage in a fun play session. They like to leave the leash on at all times, but dogs must be able to be handled by humans for exercise to be effective. While many people are able to exercise the dogs separately, the animals need to be trained once with a leash on. The trainers and owners must be knowledgeable with exercise, the dog needs to understand what is expected, how much exercise is expected, and what behavior should be rewarded and/or punished. Some people have a limited amount of time, others need to see the dog every day, while others may only have one or two hours a day. Each dog is different, and you may still need to make the training plan work for them.
What about the children? How do I make it work?
Children are not allowed into this therapy area, but all training is supervised by a registered dog walker. When this training is being done, the dog owner and the child must be supervised to ensure safety when the dog does not want to go. Dogs that are not up to par with the rest of the litter, or that are barking (often at one another), may be removed from the therapy area early in the treatment program. The government of Alberta has filed notice in court regarding a “significant” and “continuing threat” to its environment.
The Ministry of the Environment filed the notice on Thursday to seek documents related to the ongoing investigation into oil sands spills near Fort McMurray in northern Alberta.
The announcement comes at a time when the government is scrambling to secure public funding for emergency disaster and recovery projects to help communities affected by the spill, which forced the evacuation of about 90,000 people south of the city earlier this year. The city, with a population of just over 150,000, has lost more than 3,000 homes.
The province is not seeking to block the release of any documents involved with that investigation — just those related to the oil sands — saying that the public’s interest must be protected.
“I think everyone would have been shocked at the number of spills, spills that we have witnessed over the past many years,” said Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale last June.
He noted the province has not seen a spill like this one in a while because production companies have stepped up safety measures at its facilities.
