– The difference between a concert flute and a tenor ukulele is that the 10″ is a very large size, while a concert flute is just slightly bigger than a small size ukulele, but not much larger. The largest sized ukulele that I know of is the 16″ x 6″ x 1.25″, which is basically the size of a 10″ ukulele but is a 12″ x 18″ x 2.5″ which is a concert flute. This is what I would describe a “concert ukulele”. You may want to compare your instrument to the sizes that I said above. So now, when you come up to a concert ukulele, you’re like, “hey, these are a lot bigger than a normal 10″ ukulele. OK, what are the differences between the concert ukuleles and my 10″ ukulele?” Well, in order to be in tune with the 10″ ukulele, you would have to have exactly the same tuning as the 10″ ukulele in order to play it as a violin. I don’t really have that kind of time. It’s like going for a hike in the back country and just keeping up with your hiking guides. Even if you do do it, your guide will probably have a lot more things to tell you about. So you’re gonna have to take it on faith that the 10″ ukulele, whether by size or tuning, is as good or better than the 20″ ukulele or the 35″ ukulele. Just take it on faith. Also, if you go to a real concert and you don’t like it or it’s too loud or you have to go to rehearsal, you’re usually not going to get a refund since that’s not an official concert. If you don’t like the sound of a concert ukulele, it’s probably not a big deal. In fact, you may just find that you enjoy the sound of it less because you know it’s a concert. Or in the case of the new Fender ukulele, it’s just more fun!
Okay, so you’ve read the above and you’ve bought a “concert flute”. Why didn’t you buy the one I had? – Well, it was only 10 bucks compared to the $120 I would have had to spend on an ukulele! And if I had
